Find inner peace in this award winning landscape, where East truly meets West…
Award winning and internationally acclaimed, visitors will be astonished by this traditional Japanese garden, which boasts the world’s first crystal garden.
This hidden gem is a haven of peace and tranquillity and has evolved since 1980 when Buddha Maitreya elected to transform two acres of flat field and wilderness into a slice of Japanese serenity in rural Nottinghamshire.
Taking inspiration from the flowing hills and fields of Japan, the garden incorporates traditional elements such as water, bridges, bamboo, maple, cherry and lanterns but uniquely blends them with stones and plants from the local area. A real East-West fusion, there are secret pathways to explore, decorative seating areas to admire a koi pond, and meditation gardens with a pagoda. The Japanese teahouse is the perfect spot to complete a visit.
Music concerts, tea ceremonies and meditation and relaxation classes are held throughout the year.
